Ezetimibe

Ezetimibe (Generic Zetia®) is in a class of medications called cholesterol-lowering medications. It works by preventing the absorption of cholesterol in the intestine. Usage, Directions, Indication and Instructions. It is generally prescribed to help patients to treat high cholesterol. It may be used alone or in combination with an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin). Use this regularly in order to get the most benefit from it. Remember this is only part of a complete program of treatment that also includes diet, exercise, and weight control. Follow your diet, medication, and exercise routines very closely. You should accompany proper exercise, good diet and weight control if you are overweight whilst taking this medication. Adverse Reactions, Precautions and Warning. The most common side effects are headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, muscle pain, and abnormal liver tests. Notify your doctor immediately if effects persist and worsen. Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Dosage and Administration. This usually is taken once a day with or without food. Important. Continue taking even if you feel well. Do not stop without first talking to your doctor. It may take several weeks of taking the medication before your condition improves.
