Adefovir is used to treat chronic (long-term) hepatitis B infection (swelling of the liver caused by a virus) in patients who have symptoms of the disease. Adefovir is in a class of medications called nucleotide analogs. It works by decreasing the amount of hepatitis B virus (HBV) in the body. Adefovir will not cure hepatitis B and may not prevent complications of chronic hepatitis B such as cirrhosis of the liver or liver cancer. Adefovir may not prevent the spread of hepatitis B to other people.Adefovir comes as a tablet to take by mouth. It is usually taken once a day with or without food. Take adefovir at around the same time every day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take adefovir exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor. Deflazacort tablets contain the active ingredient deflazacort, which is a type of medicine known as a corticosteroid. Corticosteroids are hormones that are produced naturally by the adrenal glands. They have many important functions in the body, including control of inflammatory responses. Corticosteroid medicines are man-made derivatives of the natural hormones. They are often simply called steroids, but it should be noted that they are very different from another group of steroids, called anabolic steroids, which have gained notoriety because of their abuse by some athletes and body builders. Deflazacort is a synthetic steroid that has an anti-inflammatory effect. It is used to decrease inflammation in various different diseases and conditions. Deflazacort works by acting within cells to prevent the release of certain chemicals that are important in the immune system. These chemicals are normally involved in producing immune and allergic responses, resulting in inflammation. By decreasing the release of these chemicals in a particular area, inflammation is reduced. This can help control a wide number of disease states characterised by excessive inflammation. These include severe allergic reactions, inflammation of the lungs in asthma and inflammation of the joints in arthritis. Deflazacort also decreases the numbers of white blood cells circulating in the blood. This, along with the decrease in inflammatory chemicals, can prevent the rejection of organ transplants, as it prevents the body from attacking foreign tissue. It is useful for the treatment of certain types of leukaemia, where there is an abnormally large production of certain white blood cells, and for treating certain diseases that are caused by the immune system attacking tissues in the body (autoimmune diseases). What is it used for? Calcort tablets can be used to treat a wide variety of diseases and conditions that require either reduction of inflammation or suppression of the immune system. These include those listed below.Severe allergic reactions, eg anaphylaxis.Asthma.Rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile chronic arthritis, polymyalgia rheumatica.Inflammatory bowel disease such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.Inflammatory disorders of the kidney, such as nephrotic syndrome and interstitial nephritis.Inflammatory eye disorders, eg uveitis, optic neuritis.Inflammatory skin disorders, including pemphigus vulgaris, bullous pemphigoid and pyoderma gangrenosum.Inflammatory disease of the skin and muscles (dermatomyositis). Inflammatory disease called systemic lupus erythematosus, which can affect many organs throughout the body and is caused by the immune system attacking connective tissue in the body. Mixed connective tissue disease. Rare condition involving inflammation in the walls of arteries (polyarteritis nodosa). Sarcoidosis.Rheumatic carditis.Cancer of the bone marrow (multiple myeloma).Acute and lymphatic leukaemia.Cancer of the lymph nodes (lymphoma).Idiopathic thrombocytopenia purpura.Anaemia caused by the immune system attacking red blood cells (autoimmune haemolytic anaemia).Helping to prevent the immune system attacking a transplanted organ, eg heart, liver, kidney etc. Lidocaine viscous, a local anesthetic, is used to treat the pain of a sore or irritated mouth and throat often associated with cancer chemotherapy and certain medical procedures. Lidocaine viscous is not normally used for sore throats due to cold, flu, or infections such as strep throat.Lidocaine viscous comes as a thick liquid and should be shaken well before using. Lidocaine viscous usually is used as needed but not more frequently than every 3 hours, with a maximum of eight doses in 24 hours. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Use lidocaine exactly as directed. Do not use more or less of it or use it more often than prescribed by your doctor.For a sore or irritated mouth, the dose should be placed in the mouth, swished around until the pain goes away, and spit out.For a sore throat, the dose should be gargled and then may be swallowed. To avoid or decrease side effects, use the minimum amount of drug needed to relieve your pain.Because lidocaine viscous decreases the feeling in your mouth and/or throat, it may affect your ability to swallow. Avoid eating for at least 1 hour after you have used this drug. You should also avoid chewing gum while using this medication.
Propranolol is a beta blocker. It works by slowing down the heart and decreasing the amount of blood it pumps out. This helps to decrease blood pressure, helps the heart pump more efficiently, and reduces the workload on the heart.HypertensionPropranolol is indicated in the management of hypertension. It may be used alone or used in combination with other antihypertensive agents, particularly a thiazide diuretic. Propranolol is not indicated in the management of hypertensive emergencies. You are allergic to any of the inactive ingredients mentioned at the end of this leaflet under Product Description. It is past its expiry date or the packaging appears to have been tampered with. You are pregnant or breastfeeding, unless permitted by your doctor. You have severe problems with your liver. Before you start to take Roxithromycin Tell your doctor if you have allergies to: Any other medicines, especially if they are in the same drug class as roxithromycin. Any other substances, including foods, preservatives or dyes.Tell your doctor if you plan on becoming pregnant while you are using Roxithromycin. Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed. Roxithromycin passes into the breast milk. Your doctor will discuss the risks and benefits of using Roxithromycin while breastfeeding. Midazolam (Hypnovel), a medicine used to induce sleep before operations. Cyclosporin (Neoral, Sandimmun), a medicine used to prevent organ transplant rejection or to treat certain problems with the immune system. Cisapride (Prepulsid), a medicine used to treat gastrointestinal problems. Pimozide (Orap), an antipsychotic medicine. These medicines may be affected by Roxithromycin-RL, or may affect how well it works. You may need to use different amounts of your medicine, or you may need to take different medicines. Your doctor will advise you.HOW TO TAKE ROXITHROMYCIN- The recommended dosage for adults is 300mg per day. You may take this according to one of the following dosage regimens: one 300mg tablet once a dayor one 150mg tablet twice a day or two 150 mg tablets once a day The dosage of Roxithromycin for children depends on their weight. The recommended dose for children weighing 40 kg and more is 150mg twice a day. Roxithromycin should not be used for children less than 40 kg in weight.However, your doctor might advice you to take a different dose depending on your condition and your reaction to the medicine. No dose adjustment is required for the use in elderly. Roxithromycin is usually taken for 5 to 10 days for treating infections. Your doctormay want you to take Roxithromycin for a longer period. Ask your doctor for adviceif you are not sure how long you should be taking it. Continue to take Roxithromycin until the pack is finished or your doctor tells you to stop. Roxithromycin should be taken on an empty stomach to work best. Tacrolimus ointment is used to treat the symptoms of eczema (atopic dermatitis; a skin disease that causes the skin to be dry and itchy and to sometimes develop red, scaly rashes) in patients who cannot use other medications for their condition or whose eczema has not responded to another medication. Tacrolimus is in a class of medications called topical calcineurin inhibitors. It works by stopping the immune system from producing substances that may cause eczema.Tacrolimus comes as an ointment to apply to the skin. It is usually applied twice a day to the affected area. To help you remember to apply tacrolimus ointment, apply it at around the same times every day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Use tacrolimus exactly as directed. Do not use more or less of it or use it more often than prescribed by your doctor.To use the ointment, follow these steps: Wash your hands with soap and water. Be sure that the skin in the affected area is dry. Apply a thin layer of tacrolimus ointment to all affected areas of your skin. Rub the ointment into your skin gently and completely. Wash your hands with soap and water to remove any leftover tacrolimus ointment. Do not wash your hands if you are treating them with tacrolimus. You may cover the treated areas with normal clothing, but do not use any bandages, dressings, or wraps. Be careful not to wash the ointment off of affected areas of your skin. Do not swim, shower, or bathe immediately after applying tacrolimus ointment.
This drug is used in combination with other medications to help control your HIV infection, thereby improving your quality of life. It works by preventing these bacteria from producing proteins essential to the cell. Without these proteins the bacteria cannot grow, replicate and increase in numbers. Sodium fusidate can penetrate tissues well, so it is often used in infections of the bone (osteomyelitis) and heart, caused by staphylococci. Amoxicillin is a penicillin-type antibiotic that is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria.This antibiotic treats only bacterial infections. It will not work for viral infections (e.g., common cold, flu). Unnecessary use or overuse of any antibiotic can lead to its decreased effectiveness.How to use Amoxicillin OralTake this medication with or without food, usually every 12 hours, or as directed by the doctor. Do not chew or swallow the tablets whole.Place the prescribed dose in a glass with 2 teaspoonfuls of water and stir until thoroughly mixed. Drink all of the liquid immediately after mixing. Then rinse the glass with a small amount of water and drink the contents. This will insure the whole dose is taken. Do not mix the tablet with any liquid other than water.Drink plenty of fluids while using this medication unless your doctor tells you otherwise.Antibiotics work best when the amount of medicine in your body is kept at a constant level. Therefore, take this drug at evenly spaced intervals.Continue to take this medication until the full prescribed amount is finished even if symptoms disappear after a few days. Stopping the medication too early may allow bacteria to continue to grow, which may result in a relapse of the infection.Inform the doctor if your condition persists or worsens.
Terbinafine hydrochloride, which is an antifungal medicine used to treat infections caused by fungi.Terbinafine kills fungi and yeasts by interfering with their cell membranes. It works by stopping fungi from producing a substance called ergosterol, which is an essential component of fungal cell membranes. The disruption in production of ergosterol disrupts the cell membrane and causes holes to appear. The cell membranes of fungi are vital for their survival. They keep unwanted substances from entering the cells and stop the contents of the cells from leaking out. As terbinafine causes holes to appear in the cell membranes, essential constituents of the fungal cells can leak out. This kills the fungi and hence clears up the infection. Terbinafine cream is applied to the skin to treat a wide range of fungal skin infections. Improvement in symptoms is usually seen after a few days of treatment, but the prescribed course should be finished to ensure the infection is completely cured and prevent it returning.What is it used for? If you were using a short-acting beta agonist inhaler such as albuterol (Proventil, Ventolin) on a regular basis, your doctor will probably tell you to stop using it regularly but to continue to use it to treat sudden attacks of asthma symptoms. Do not change the way you use any of your medications or stop taking any of your medications without talking to your doctor.Do not use fluticasone and salmeterol during an attack of asthma or COPD. Your doctor will prescribe a short-acting inhaler to use during attacks.Fluticasone and salmeterol inhalation controls asthma and COPD but does not cure these conditions. It may take a week or longer before you feel the full benefit of fluticasone and salmeterol. Continue to use fluticasone and salmeterol even if you feel well. Do not stop using fluticasone and salmeterol without talking to your doctor. If you stop using fluticasone and salmeterol inhalation, your symptoms may return.Before you use fluticasone and salmeterol inhalation for the first time, ask your doctor, pharmacist, or respiratory therapist to show you how to use the inhaler. Practice using your inhaler while he or she watches.To use the inhaler, follow these steps: If you will be using a new inhaler for the first time, remove it from the box and the foil wrapper. Fill in the blanks on the inhaler label with the date that you opened the pouch and the date 1 month later when you must replace the inhaler. Hold the inhaler in one hand, and put the thumb of your other hand on the thumbgrip. Push your thumb away from you as far as it will go until the mouthpiece appears and snaps into position. Hold the inhaler in a level, horizontal position with the mouthpiece toward you. Slide the lever away from you as far as it will go until it clicks. Every time the lever is pushed back, a dose is ready to inhale. You will see the number in the dose counter go down. Do not waste doses by closing or tilting the inhaler, playing with the lever, or advancing the lever more than once. Hold the inhaler level and away from your mouth, and breathe out as far as you comfortably can. Keep the inhaler in a level, flat position. Put the mouthpiece to your lips. Breathe in quickly and deeply though the inhaler, not through your nose. Remove the inhaler from your mouth, and hold your breath for 10 seconds or as long as you comfortably can. Breathe out slowly. You will probably taste or feel the salmeterol powder released by the inhaler. Even if you do not, do not inhale another dose. If you are not sure you are getting your dose of fluticasone and salmeterol, call your doctor or pharmacist. Rinse your mouth with water, but do not swallow. Put your thumb on the thumbgrip and slide it back toward you as far as it will go. The inhaler will click shut. Never exhale into the inhaler, take the inhaler apart, or wash the mouthpiece or any part of the inhaler. Keep the inhaler dry. Do not use the inhaler with a spacer.
Meloxicam is used to relieve pain, tenderness, swelling, and stiffness caused by osteoarthritis (arthritis caused by a breakdown of the lining of the joints) and rheumatoid arthritis (arthritis caused by swelling of the lining of the joints). Meloxicam is also used to relieve the pain, tenderness,swelling, and stiffness caused by juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (a type of arthritis that affects children) in children 2 years of age and older. Meloxicam is in a class of medications called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs). It works by stopping the body's production of a substance that causes pain, fever, and inflammation.Meloxicam comes as a tablet and suspension (liquid) to take by mouth. It is usually taken once a day with or without food. Take meloxicam at the same time every day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take meloxicam exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.Shake the suspension well before each use to mix the medication evenly.Meloxicam is also used sometimes to treat ankylosing spondylitis (arthritis that mainly affects the spine).
